Some of us have teens at home that are itching to drive. We wanted to give you a some tips to make sure they are properly trained and aware that driving is a privilege, not a right.
If you don't know where to start, the DMV has some great insight to help you while selecting a driving school for education and driver training information <<DMV Tips>>.
Taking a proper class is important for a few reasons:
1. It can relieve some of the stress from you, as a parent, of having to teach your teen
2. Completing a driving course may LOWER YOUR INSURANCE PREMIUM when you add your teen to your insurance policy (which will save you money 💰)
3. You, as a parent, can feel safer knowing your teen has real behind-the-wheel training and has better knowledge about the CA driving laws
Social Media and Driving Don't Mix! Our cell phones can be major distractions while driving. Texting used to be a huge factor in distracting drivers, now people are using their Snapchats, Instagrams or even games like Pokemon Go while they drive. Not only is it illegal to use your phone on the road(other than for hands-free phone calls), but it can be deadly. Pokemon go has only been available for about a week in the US and there have already been reports of incidents of people crashing while using the app. <<1st Major car accident caused by a person playing Pokemon Go>>
Teens are not the only ones using social media while they drive. It's important to lead by example. Huffington Post wrote a great article about people in the US that post videos and selfies while driving! << Taking selfies while driving >> Let's make sure everyone is prepared before they get on the road. The DMV has a wealth of information for you and your teen. Whether it's for test preparation or safety check lists. <<DMV Help>>
We hope you found these links and tips helpful.
